A Fash-Unexpected Origin Story

The smile-making silhouette that started it all stemmed from an incurable medical condition.

When she was diagnosed with lymphedema – incurable, painful, and at times unsightly – our founder Debra Swersky got news that her active day-to-day would change forever. That included an unwelcome wardrobe change in the form of a beige compression garment that would treat her right leg.

That said: Debra’s optimism and determination are deeply incurable, too.

In the act of cutting a leg off a pair of ordinary leggings to cover the beige and "blah" the compression garment emblemized, Debra invented a new fashion category defined by joyful defiance.

Stemwear Everywhere

Today, Stemwear has evolved into so much more. It has become: 

• An anti-uniform uniform for teams and athletes
• A statement of uncompromising individuality that’s still seriously comfortable
• A conversation starter for fascinating conversationalists
